Emerson O’Campo


Emerson joined Capital Coaching in 2014 and is co-head of coaching Emerson has developed the junior program and programs for adults and several performance squads. He has a particular focus on ensuring that juniors enjoy the game and have the skills and opportunities to move to competitive tennis if they desire. Emerson is from the Philippines. His coaching career includes an extended period in Muscat, Oman where he worked for the Tennis Federation as national coach for 9 years. He was selected as an assistant coach and hitting partner for the Davis Cup and Federation Cup team at the Asia-Oceania Zone Group II, III, IV and the Arab Games.

While having plenty of coaching success in Oman, he also had the opportunity to work and travel with Fatma Al Nabhani (WTA highest ranking # 362 singles and #238 doubles) on the ITF Pro Circuit. He was also an essential part of the junior development team, serving as a travelling coach for the under12, under14 and under18 selections that competed in ITF Junior Circuits grade 4 and 5, North Africa, GCC , and Asian tournaments before moving to Wellington.

Emerson has a certified professional rating from United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR/PTR) in both 10 years and under (Junior Development) and High Performance. Emerson played for the Karori United Premier Mens interclub team, helping them climb from Premier 3 to Premier 1 in three seasons, the first time the club had made it to Division 1 for many years.
